The Department of Pharmacology at Government Medical College Amritsar is primarily concerned with the teaching of pharmacology to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Undergraduate pharmacology courses are undertaken for the second Professional year MBBS students. Department provides training to postgraduate (MD) students in Experimental, and Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics as per the curriculum approved by the Medical Council of India.

Affiliated to the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences and a part of the Government Medical College Amritsar, the faculty and postgraduate students of the department are engaged in active research in the field of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics.

Research section gives a list of the various thesis projects going on in the department. The lectures delivered to the undergraduate students as a part of their curriculum can be accessed via the resources section. News section provides the visitors with an oppurtunity to check out the latest and relevant articles from various journals. Links to sites important for the undergraduates can be accessed via the links section.

Drug Safety section is an effort by the department to educate the professionals and the lay person about the various issues and aspects of safety of medicines, both prescription and over-the-counter.
