Research projects in the department are carried out as a part of the Thesis of the MD students of the department and also individual non thesis related research activities carried out by both the faculty and the students.

The department has a pharmacy laboratory and an experimental laboratory for the undergarduate students. Postgraduate students of the department work in their experimental pharmacology laboratory for carrying out non clinical experiments in addition to working in various departments of the affiliated Guru Nanak Dev Hospital for carrying out research in Clincal Pharmacology.
